As it is with every other service, it is with international cargo transportation. Such things as packaging are particularly important, and each class of goods entails certain packing criteria. Therefore, proper packaging is also a necessity for the security of commodities being carried.
Generally speaking, should the packaging of the goods be such that it has serious defects which may impact upon the safety during transportation, the safety of the goods, and the performers of the transport are in danger or there are mistreatment of applicable provisions in laws, insurance contracts, or covering. The forwarder as a transporter is entitled to refuse such transportation. Now as an expert freight forwarding firm, let’s elaborate on this issue today.
First, at the moment of concluding the transportation contract, this contract may contain also requirements concerning the standard and quality of the packaging. If the packaging is below the criteria agreed upon in the contract, then the transportation of the goods by the forwarder is in breach of the contract.
Second, there are some legal provisions that may order that certain classifications of goods be well-packed. If any of the packaging suppositions fails, then the goods in question cannot be transported by the carrier.
Third, transportation safety is a factor of consideration. If the tarp is hoped to keep the freight safe, and if that proves insufficient, then the forwarder is under no obligation to undertake the risk and liability.
Fourth, any risk which is related to transportation as well. Some products are quite hazardous during the course of transportation. Therefore, even if some can be carried, it is on the condition that damages, costs, etc, are not covered by the freight forwarder. My argument is any problems with the appropriateness of the packing will not merit any appeal for compensation!
There are some freight forwarding companies who are very greedy and would want to make maximum profit and therefore, they will tell you that there is nothing that cannot be shipped. At this point, you should make it a point to clarify and your packaging should be right for your category of goods.
